Guild Hunt Guide – Devouring Beast

Main features and attributes of Devouring Beast

● Almost all attacks are % based damage.
● Immune to CC (Crowd Control).
● Devastating Fireball skill which deals huge amount of % damage.

Countering the 3 main features

1. Almost all attacks are % based damage.
Keep HP of your team low and balanced, preferably around 2-3k range to allow healers to top off HP easier. Tank is not needed because the only normal attacks are pretty harmless and easy to heal.

2. Immune to CC (Crowd Control).
This means CC food souls like Foie Gras, Peking Duck, B-52 are not recommended at all because their basic or energy skills are wasted. Pure attack food souls are highly recommended instead to dish out more damage. These food souls include Champagne, Pizza, Turkey, Bamboo Rice, Boston Lobster, Sanma, Cassata, American Corn Bread, Red Wine, Hamburger, Black Tea. Go for Atk or Atk Spd fallen angels depending on the star level, fallen angels and artifacts.

3. Devastating Fireball skill which deals huge amount of % damage.
This fireball skill will be cast by the boss at 3 timings in the whole fight:

2:55, 1:46, 0:47

This skill will prevent players from surviving the whole and needs specific counters. The first counter will be using invulnerability to nullify the fireball skill. Currently there is only 1 combo which allows for this: Tangyuan & Mooncake. Simply time Tangyuan’s linked skill 1-3 secs before the above 3 timings to nullify the fireball completely. However this combo sacrifices on damage and recommended during early game.

The second counter will be to time massive group heals after the fireball to quickly top up you team’s HP. Group healers ideal for this task will be Nagashi Somen, Milt, Sweet Tofu or Milk. However other healers like Bibimbap, Osechi and Miso Soup can also be used if their heals are fast and good enough. This counter requires healing skills of these food souls to be at significant levels of 21 or above, thus recommended during mid to late game. Ultimately the choice of which healer to use will rely on your team composition.

Special Mention

There are a few food souls which breaks the meta through stringent conditions and combinations. These team comps with these special food souls can achieve damage through brute damage. Examples of these food souls are Beer, Cloud Tea, Butter Tea and Toso. Beer if raw brute Atk and Atk Spd while the other 3 generates huge amount of energy with the right conditions. Mapo Tofu is another exception who can bring huge damage even though she is part CC.

Notable Pairings

These pairings produce great synergies and are recommended to try them out if your team comp happens to include either one of them. Not compulsory to follow these pairings if fallen angels, stars are not desirable or better food soul choices are available.

Artifacts

Regarding Artifacts, more nodes is always better. This is especially true for Durga as her immunity to normal attacks does not affect artifacts’ effects. Below are the a few artifacts benchmarks for various food souls in this world boss fight:

  • Mapo Tofu’s artifact should aim for at least node 3 or more to maximize her damage for Durga.
  • Turkey’s artifact should aim for at least node 3 or more to maximize his damage for Durga.
  • Pizza’s artifact should get to node 1 to trigger immunity to continuous damage if trying for 1 healer build. However, this will greatly lower energy regeneration of the team.
  • Champagne’s artifact will greatly improve his power at node 2 or above.
  • Sweet Tofu’s artifact is enough and effective at node 1 but the more the merrier.

Team Composition & Fallen Angels

Team Comp 1 (Early Game & F2P):
Black Tea, Milk, Tangyuan, Moon Cake, Any Attacker

Balanced damage team when you don’t have good DPS or healers at early game. Full Atk Fallen Angels. Check your Milk’s linked skill heal amount, make sure your team’s HP is around 1.25-1.5x that amount.
Eg. Milk’s linked skill heals for 1447, make sure your team HP is around 1800 – 2000

  1. Use Black Tea’s linked skill whenever possible.
  2. Use Milk’s linked skill to heal when team HP is low, save & use around 1 minute mark
  3. Save & use Tangyuan’s invincibility skill at 2:56, 1:47, 0:48

Team Comp 2 (Mid Game / Casual Whales):
Sanma, Miso Soup, Tangyuan, Mooncake, Any Attacker

Decent damage team with Atk or Atk Speed Fallen Angel for pure attacker, full Atk Fallen Angels for rest of the team. Check your Miso Soup’s linked heal amount, make sure your team’s HP is around 1.25-1.5x that amount.

  1. Use Miso Soup’s linked skill to heal when team HP is low, save & use around 1 minute mark.
  2. Save & use Tangyuan’s invincibility skill at 2:56, 1:47, 0:48

Team Comp 3 (Sanma / Miso):
Sanma, Miso Soup, 1 Healer + 2 Attackers
Mix and match the 2 attackers to find the best damage output. Eg:

Decent damage team comp with 2 attackers when you acquire powerful DPS food souls like Mapo Tofu, Pizza, Champagne or Turkey.
Requires strong FAs for Healer and Miso Soup.
Requires high skill levels for Healer and Miso Soup (At least level 21)

  1. Use attackers’ skills whenever possible.
  2. Save Miso Soup’s heals for 2:56, 1:47, 0:48 (Timing is very important here)
(Might need multiple tries for team to survive past fireballs)

Team Comp 4 (Less RNG reliant but sacrifices on 1 DPS slot of damage):
Sanma, Miso Soup, Milt, Caviar + 1 Attacker

Almost same as Team Comp 3 but swaps out 1 attacker for Caviar while also using Milt. This comp make use of the linked skill of Caviar and Milt to enable the highest and longest group heal. This allows leniency in timing to trigger the skill and also reduce RNG screw-ups from the boss’s silence. Thus generally reducing the need to do multiple tries. Good for players with no time to keep trying.

Another good point of this comp is that both Caviar and Milt do not need high ascension or having good fallen angels. They mainly requires high skill level of at least 21 and up. This comp might also eliminate the need for a second healer, which means that Miso Soup can be replaced with another pure attacker. Downside is that the overall damage output might be lower than Team Comp 3.

  1. Use attackers’ skills whenever possible.
  2. Save Milt’s heals for 2:56, 1:47, 0:48 (Can be triggered around 3-5s before)

Team Comp 5 (High Damage Output, More Leniency on Timings):
Milt, Caviar + 3 Attackers

A combination of Team Comp 3 and 4. This team relies heavily on Milt and Caviar to pull off insane heals during fireballs. Milt’s linked skill needs to be high enough to be able to heal your whole team. This can be challenging if there is a high HP attacker on your team like Turkey. If that is the case, it is recommended to swap out the high HP attacker or just let it die at 3rd fireball but continue through the fight to the end.

Overall this team can deal a high amount of damage if your team has top-tier attackers like Champagne, Pizza and Turkey. It is also recommended to equip attackers and Milt with Atk Spd FAs to maximize damage. Caviar can use either Atk or Atk Spd FAs.

  1. Use attackers’ skills whenever possible.
  2. Save Milt’s heals for these timings: 4:10, 3:30, 3:00, 2:30, 1:54, 1:30, 0:54, 0:30 (Timings in bold are critical for surviving through fireballs, the rest depends on overall HP of your team at that time)

Team Comp 6 (Beer Power Entry):
Beer, Caviar, Milt + 2 Attackers

An entry team comp towards ultimate damage. Introduces the power of beer to replace a DPS. Requires high star beer with good Atk Spd FAs of at least +12 and up. Still making use of the ultimate survival combo of Caviar and Milt to keep the team alive during the fireballs. With a good beer and good attackers, this team boosts and adds a decent amount of damage from the previous comp.

Team Comp 7 (Beer Luck):
Beer, 1 Healer + 3 Attackers

Using whaling option of spending crystals on revival to get max damage. This team involving Beer and only 1 healer maximize the damage output but has a very low chance to survive the fireballs. If lucky it might survive the first fireball. After which it falls on crystal revival to achieve full fight duration. High requirements needed for healer and beer with high level Atk Spd FAs and max stars. Same goes for attackers if going for max damage.
